Travel with style

Travelling is one of my favorite things to do and even though I'm not too fond of packing I like to do it with style. This season the major Maisons came out with some really cool travel collections that I'm dying to add to my stash. Chanel have a whole travel-inspired new collection with gorgeous canvas pieces which may not be the most practical but are definitely chic. If you want something more durable, they have a few leather pieces as well and don't forget to check their bijoux, they're the cutest! Louis Vuitton added a new jungle print to a few of their iconic travel pieces and I really love the pink and red combo which adds a little something to these timeless gems.

Living in Florence I had to include Gucci and their new floral print on canvas, which is gorgeous. There many different prints and combination all unique, vaguely retro-inspired but with and edgy twist! I can't wait to leave for my next destination and with all these beautiful pieces I'll have a hard time picking my travel companion! Which style is your favorite?

Viaggiare è una delle cose che amo di più ma vi confesso che fare la valigia è sempre una tragedia per me, nonostante questo però mi piace farla con stile. Questa stagione, alcune delle più importanti Maison nel campo della moda hanno creato collezioni di articoli da viaggio davvero bellissime e che non disdegnerei di possedere. Chanel ha scelto come ispirazione proprio il tema del viaggio e ha creato una serie di pezzi in tela davvero stupendi. Riconosco che la scelta di questo materiale non è la più pratica, ma se volete qualcosa di più duraturo ci sono diversi articoli in pelle. Non dimenticate di dare un'occhiata alla bigiotteria, la collezione di spille in particolare è deliziosa!

Louis Vuitton per la stagione, ha aggiunta una stampa Jungle ad alcuni dei suoi pezzi iconici da viaggio. Mi piace la scelta del rosa e rosso, che aggiunge quel qualcosa in più a dei pezzi davvero intramontabili.

Vivendo a Firenze non potevo non includere Gucci e la loro collezione a stampa floreale su tela: bellissima. Ci sono moltissime combinazioni diverse, seppur tutte originali e il classico gusto vagamente retrò si mischia ad un tocco più moderno e irriverente!

Non vedo l'ora di partire per il prossimo viaggio, anche se con tutta questa scelta darà difficile selezionare il bagaglio da portare con me! Voi quale stile preferite?

Shanghai where to shop: mini shopping guide 2.0

Let's talk about shopping. Shanghai is big, full of malls and to be honest after a while they all start to look the same. So depending on what you're looking for you should definitely have a plan.

If you're into beauty and skin-care you're in the right place. There are tons of different beauty shops and my favorite are Watsons, Innis Free, Tony Moly and Sephora. Sephora carries a few interesting brands that are hard to find in Europe like Boscia, Laneige, Stila as well as many widely available brands such as Lancôme, Dior, etc. but they have specific ranges of products exclusive to Asia. Most of them are sunscreens and whitening bases because having a bright, light complexion is a must in Asia. You cannot leave Shanghai without a few sheet masks in your suitcase. I mean you can find them basically anywhere!  I went a little bit crazy in that department...and I have a huge skin care post coming up so keep your eyes peeled for that!

The annoying part is that in most of the shops they don't really speak English and on the packaging there's no other language than Chinese or Korean...so it's quite hard to pick the right product for your skin...but the staff is really friendly and they'll try to help you as much as they can.

Talking about fashion Uniqlo is definitely the most popular chain there, great if you're looking for basic pieces at affordable prices but if you deeply love fashion the true gem is Xintiandi Style Shopping Center. It's not you're average Mall, there you can find an amazing selection of independent brands and really cool, unique pieces both from Chinese and international designers. If you're tired of big Malls take a stroll in the French Concession, one of my favorite parts of Shanghai. The area is filled with small boutiques, where you can find amazing jewelry, clothes, home decor as well as cafes and Bars where you can rest while enjoying a drink with your friends.

Last but not least you should absolutely check out the fake markets. There's one for technology, one for glasses and sunglasses where you can get a pair for about 30 euros and yes, you can have your eyes tested for fress!  There's also another one where you can find a little bit of everything including clothes and accessories. I went there with my friends who had been there before so they taught me a few tricks and it was really funny to found myself in such a quirky environment!

At one point I found myself in the middle of the craziest negotiation ever...one of my friends was looking for a new phone and he knew this Jimmy guy at the market...so we where there...they even gave us a bottle of water (serious business makes you thirsty) both my friends started the negotiation and after a while the counter was crammed all kind of electronics you could imagine. Then out of nowhere I became part of the game...all the three of them were tring to convince me I needed a new phone but that didn't happened in the end ;P. We went back to the hotel with Jimmy to arrange the deal and while we were sipping a delicious Mango Bellini in the lounge, he got a phone call...he sold my friend the wrong phone...so they had to go back to the market to exchange it for the right one. At that point the market was closed, but hey no big deal, you enter the empty and dark building and voilà...it all worked out fine eventually!!...for those of you who are wondering...yes one of them was Stig of course and if you enjoyed reading about our crazy stories in Shanghai don't forget to check back on blog next monday for another chapter!

Ma veniamo allo shopping. Shanghai dicevamo, è una grande città, piena di centri commerciali...e ad essere onesti dopo un po' inizieranno a sembrarvi tutti uguali. Quindi a seconda di quello che state cercando, vi consiglio di fare qualche ricerca preventiva e di prepare un piano, onde evitare di perdervi.

Se vi piacciono make-up e skin care siete nel posto giusto! Ci sono infatti tantissime profumerie e negozi che vendono prodotti di bellezza. I miei preferiti sono Watsons, Innis Free, Tony Moly and Sephora. Da Sephora troverete alcune marche interessanti che non si trovano facilmente in Italia, come Boscia, Laneige, Stila e moltissimi marchi diffusi su larga scala come Lancôme, Dior, ecc. che hanno prodotti esclusivi per il mercato asiatico, per cui vi consiglio di dare comunque un'occhiata. Per la maggior parte si tratta di protezioni solari e prodotti per schiarire la pelle, visto che in Asia avere una pelle candida è un vero must.

Ovviamente non potete andarvene senza mettere in valigia almeno un paio di maschere in tessuto. Diciamo che io mi sono lasciata prendere leggermente la mano...infatti ho in arrivo un post dedicato alla skin-care che vi consiglio di leggere se siete curiosi di saperne di più si questi prodotti!

L'unica pecca è che nella maggior parte dei negozi non parlano Inglese molto bene e sulle confezioni le indicazioni sono quasi sempre solo in Cinese o Coreano...quindi è piuttosto difficile scegliere il prodotto giusto...devo dire però che il personale si ingegna per venire in vostro aiuto e che con qualche ricerca preventiva il problema della lingua può essere aggirato.

Parlando invece di moda, la catena più popolare è decisamente Uniqlo, ottimo per trovare capi basici e di buona qulità a prezzi contenuti ma secondo me la vera perla è il centro Commerciale Xintiandi Style Shopping Center. Al suo interno troverete una selezione incredibile di capi ricercati e originali, sia di stilisti Cinesi che internazionali. Ottimo posto per scovare nuovi trend e prendere ispirazione. Se vi siete stufati dei Centri Commerciali, potete fare un giro nella French Concession, una delle mie zone preferite di Shanghai. Qui troverete tantissime, deliziose boutique che vendono gioielli, accessori, vestiti, articoli d'arredamento unici e originali. Il quartiere è pieno di café e Bar dove potrete fermarvi per una pausa e fare due chiacchiere con gli amici davanti a una birra o un caffe.

Ultimo ma non meno importante, non dimenticate di fare un salto ai vari Fake Market. C'è quello dedicato all'elettronica, quello specializzato in occhiali, dove con poco più di 30 euro vi portate via la montatura con le lenti graduate...e sì vi misurano anche la vista. Per finire c'è quello dove trovate un po di tutto, dalle valigie, alle borse ai vestiti. Ci sono stata con alcuni amici che ci erano già stati, quindi mi hanno messa in guardia sulle possibili fregature e insegnato alcuni trucchetti. Ma anche solamente per dare un'occhiata vi consiglio di farci un salto, non capita tutti i giorni di trovarsi in un ambiente così strampalato!

Vi dico solo che mi sono trovata ad assistere ad una delle negoziazioni più assurde che abbia mai visto! Uno dei miei amici stava cercando un nuovo telefono, quindi ci ha portato da Jimmy un ragazzo che lavora al mercato dell'elettronica. La cosa è andata per le lunghe e mano a mano che il tempo passava il bancone si riempiva sempre più di oggetti di elettronica di tutti i tipi: cuffie, cellulari, carica batterie, ecc. Ci hanno perfino portato delle bottigliette d'acqua (perché si sa, le migliori contrattazioni mettono sete). I miei amici erano presissimi a contrattare davanti al mio sguardo incredulo e divertito e ad un certo punto, senza che nemmeno me ne rendessi conto...in tre stavano cercando di vendermi un telefono nuovo...alla fine non ci sono riusciti ;P. Dopo un oretta tutti contenti siamo tornati verso l'albergo insieme a Jimmy per finalizzare l'acquisto e gli ultimi accordi. Stavamo sorseggiando un delizioso Mango Bellini, nella lounge quando Jimmy riceve una telefonata...aveva dato al mio amico il telefono sbagliato! Che fare quindi? Si torna al market...che però a quel punto era chiuso, ma nessun problema anche se il luogo è deserto e le luci sono spente...si entra lo stesso e in mezz'ora era tutto risolto!! ...per chi di voi se lo stasse chiedendo...sì uno di loro è Stig ovviamente e se vi è piaciuto leggere le nostre avventure a Shanghai, vi aspetto lunedì per il prossimo capitolo ;)

Potrei andare avanti per ore a raccontarvi di posti e situazioni, quindi capirete quanto è stato difficile fare una selezione. Spero comunque che il post vi sia piaciuto e di essere riuscita a darvi qualche buono spunto se vi troverete a visitare Shanghai!

Shanghai where to eat: mini restaurant guide

Shanghai is definitely a big city...one of those where you can find anything, anytime, anywhere.

I recon it can be a bit overwhelming so I decided to share with you a few restaurants and shops I really liked ;)I decided to dived this post into two parts so this time I'll be sharing with you some tips about where to eat in Shanghai!

Shanghai è senza dubbio una grande città dove si può trovare di tutto, in ogni posto e a qualsiasi ora.

Riconosco quindi che può disorientare un po', quindi ho pensato di condividere con voi un paio di ristoranti e negozi che mi hanno particolarmente colpita. Ho deciso di dividere il post in due parti e oggi parliamo di dove mangiare a Shanghai!

Sichuan Citizen - 30 Donghu Rd, Xuhui,

It's a traditional Chinese restaurant where you can find all sorts of dishes (with pictures), keep in mind most of them are spicy so watch out for that if it's not your thing. Their Basil Drop cocktail is a true must so you should absolutely to try it! It's a green concussion with basil and vodka, delicious and doesn't really taste like alcohol...I'm just saying...

Sichuan Citizen - 30 Donghu Rd, Xuhui

Si tratta di un tradizionale ristorante cinese, sia per la cucina che per lo stile dell'arredamento, dove troverete un'ampissima selezione di piatti tipici (con tanto di foto) davvero deliziosi. La maggior parte dei piatti sono piccanti, quindi se la cosa non fa per voi chiedete prima di ordinare.

Il Basil Drop, un cocktail a base di vodka e basilico, è il loro punto di forza, infatti molte persone si recano nel locale anche solo per questo. In effetti è delizioso e non sembra affatto alcolico quindi...fate attenzione ;)

Liquid Laundry - Kwah Centre 2F - 1028 Huaihai Zhong Lu

This is such a cool place you cannot miss it! The interiors are so well thought, it's one of those places where even the restroom it's worth a visit. The food is mostly American and on the weekend they do an amazing brunch.

Un locale che non potete lasciarvi scappare. A parte la cucina, il suo vero punto di forza è l'arredamento studiato nei minimi dettagli uno di quesi posti dove merita vedere anche la toilette. Se ci riuscite fatevi dare un tavolo vicino alle vetrate per godervi la vista e la luce migliore. La cucina è principalmente Americana e nel fine settimana da non perdere il loro delizioso brunch!

You can find it everywhere in Shanghai and it's nice to have this healthy and delicious option. Try their juices and smoothies as well as their great selection of vegetarian food.

Trovate ristoranti di questa catena praticamente ovunque a Shanghai ed è un'ottima opzione se avete voglia di mangiare un po' di frutta e verdura. Da provare le loro centrifughe, gli smoothies e i deliziosi piatti vegetariani.

Meng Café - 115 Wuyuan Lu, near Wulumuqi Lu

A lovely café in the hearth of French Concession. The owners Lesi, Sandy and Iris will welcome you with a smile and make you feel home. The cafe is small but cozy and decorated with incredible taste. Every Tuesday you can join them for the movie night while sipping the best Spritz in town! 

Meng Café - 115 Wuyuan Lu, near Wulumuqi Lu

Un delizioso café nella French Concession, dove le proprietarie Lesi, Sandy e Iris vi accoglieranno con il sorriso, facendovi subito sentire a vostro agio. Il locale è piccolo ma colorato e arredato in maniera deliziosa. Ogni martedì serà potete fermarvi per la movie night sorseggiando il migliore Spritz della città!

New York, New York

So on Thursday I'm going to New York!! I can't contain my excitement XD I've never been so I don't even know what to expect and I'm already getting crazy thinking about all the places I wanna visit, the museums, the exhibitions, Central Park and...well you know...THE SHOPPING!! I'll be staying just for a week so my schedule is going to be pretty busy but I hope I'll manage to see and do as much as I can! If you have any recommendations or things you wanna share feel free to do so :)

Dunque giovedì parto per New York!! Non ci posso ancora credere XD non ci sono mai stata quindi non so bene cosa aspettarmi e sto già impazzendo, cercando di fare una lista di tutti i posti che voglio vedere, i musei, le mostre, Central Park e... beh lo sapete...LO SHOPPING!! Starò solo una settimana, quindi saranno giorni intensi, ma spero di riuscire a fare e vedere il più possibile! Se avete consigli da darmi, sarei felice se li voleste condividere con me :)
